Caring for Your Cane

Five minutes, twice a year. That’s honestly all it takes.

The Wood

Your cane is finished with hand-rubbed oil, not fragile lacquer. To keep it glowing:

  • Twice a year, wipe the shaft with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of furniture oil (we like Howard’s Feed-N-Wax).
  • Wipe off rain or snow when you get inside. Water won’t hurt it if it doesn’t sit.
  • Small scratches? Rub them with a drop of oil and they usually disappear into the grain.
What to avoidSilicone sprays and all-purpose cleaners. They dry the finish. Plain furniture oil is all the wood ever needs.

The Rubber Tip

The tip is your grip on the world — check it monthly.

  • Look at the tread like you’d look at a tire. Smooth means replace.
  • Replacements are free for life. Call and we mail one — it slides on by hand in ten seconds.
  • On ice, no rubber tip is fully safe. Take the arm of someone you like instead.

Storage

Wood likes what you like: room temperature, out of the weather.

  • Store it standing in a stand or hooked on a rail — not leaning at a steep angle for months.
  • Avoid the car trunk in summer. Florida taught us this one.
  • If you own more than one (it happens more than you’d think), rotate them. Wood rests well.
Something looks off?Call (877) 555-2263 and describe it. A loose collar tightens with one hex turn — we’ll walk you through it, or just send parts.
